✨ Today I completed a lecture on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Pain Management (two more sessions coming up this year).
Most people believe pain only comes after an “injury.”
👉 Muscle strain, joint degeneration → pain
👉 Emotional stress, depression → “heartache”
👉 Internal organ dysfunction → stomach acid, bloating
But pain is more complex. It is not one-way.
Not only does injury cause pain, but pain can create new injuries.
🔸 Chronic stomach pain → slouched posture → abdominal muscle imbalance
🔸 Ankle sprain → altered gait → hip and knee degeneration
🔸 Pelvic muscle dysfunction → low back pain + urinary, menstrual, sexual problems
🔸 Chronic pain → anxiety, insomnia → pain amplification (central sensitization)
💡 In the current healthcare system, patients often see multiple specialties, get repetitive treatments, and still fail to recover.
The TCM advantage is holistic care.
- TCM treats both internal organs and musculoskeletal pain at the same time (e.g., one herbal formula can address insomnia, digestive issues, and pain).
- Acupuncture regulates mind-body balance, treating inside and outside together.
Specialized TCM pain physicians also integrate modern evidence-based tools:
- Acupotomy: fascia release, tendon/ligament decompression, micro-invasive regeneration
- Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling (FSN): fascia relaxation, improve blood flow
- Dry Needling: trigger point release, myofascial pain treatment
- Ultrasound guidance: precise visualization for accurate targeting
I always tell patients: Pain is not isolated. It is a web of interconnected factors.
True recovery requires a holistic, integrative approach.
